¡Tuve la fortuna de ir este domingo pasado al concierto de Marc Anthony en el Amway Center!
Mi amiga, Italis Loperena, y yo, subimos al Club Level del Amway, donde pudimos relajarnos un poco, antes de que comenzara el evento.
Uno de los mejores momentos fue cuando conocí a Martha Brown y a su esposo, Jerry (lee su entrada sobre el concierto aquí). Martha fue la ganadora de mi sorteo para dos boletos para el concierto, y da la tremenda casualidad de que esa noche celebraron seis años de casados. ¡Feliz aniversario, Martha y Jerry!
¡También pude compartir un poco con mi gran amigo, Brian Wilson, de Central Florida Top 5!
La parada de Anthony en Orlando, que fue parte de su gira “Vivir Mi Vida,” fue muy exitosa para él, con el lugar lleno de Latinos (¡y americanos!) de todas partes.
Como nunca había ido a un concierto de él, para mi fue una gran sorpresa que el abre sus conciertos con un comediante puertorriqueño, en vez de un acto musical. ¿Si como quiera vamos a oír música, por qué no tener a alguien primero que nos haga reír?
Así fue que una vez salió Joey Vega al escenario, las carcajadas comenzaron. ¡El relajó a todos, de todos los países! No hubo nadie que se quedara afuera– incluso los puertorriqueños.
¡Claro, una vez se apareció Marc Anthony, no hubo quien calmara al público!
Me impresionó tanto como el intérprete de canciones como “Valió La Pena” y “Volver a Comenzar,” encontraba tanta energía para cantar– y bailar— sin descanso. Cuando único mostró fatiga fue cuando le pidió al papá quien estaba en la audiencia, que le pasara una cerveza. 😉
También me sorprendió que todas las canciones que cantó fueron en español. Tal vez Anthony quiso enviarles un mensaje importante a los detractores de el, los que insisten que el ser americano significa sólo hablar en inglés o el no ser Latino.
Una de las sorpresas más grandes fue ver a Tito El Bambino salir al escenario con Marc Anthony y cantar con él.

Definitivamente Marc Anthony es un artista que estará por muchos años, ayudando a alterar la definición de lo que es ser americano.
I was fortunate to be able to attend the Marc Anthony concert at Amway Center on Sunday!
My friend, Italis, and I, went up to the Club Level of the Amway, where we were able to relax a bit before the concert began.
One of the best moments was when I met Martha Brown and her husband, Jerry. Martha was the winner of my ticket giveaway, and it just so happened that that night was their six-year anniversary (read her post about the concert here). Happy anniversary, Martha and Jerry!
I was also able to spend some time with my dear friend, Brian Wilson, of Central Florida Top 5!
Anthony’s stop in Orlando, which was part of his “Vivir Mi Vida” tour, was wildly successful, with the arena packed with Latinos (and Americans!) from all areas.
Since I’d never been to one of his concerts, it was a big surprise to me that he had a comedian opening for him, instead of a musical act. If we’re going to hear music anyway, why not have someone who will make us laugh first?
As soon as Joey Vega took the stage, the laughs began. He made fun of everyone, from every country! No one was left out, and Puerto Ricans were no exception.
Of course, once Marc Anthony came out on stage, there was no calming the public!
I was very impressed with how the interpreter of songs like “Valió La Pena” and “Volver a Comenzar” found so much energy to sing– and dance– without taking a break. The only time he showed fatigue was when he asked his dad, who was in the audience, to pass him a beer. 😉
I was also surprised that all of the songs were in Spanish. Maybe Anthony wanted to send his detractors an important message, to those who insist that being an American means only singing in English or not being Latino.
One of the biggest surprises was seeing Tito El Bambino come out on stage and sing with Anthony.
Marc Anthony is definitely an artist who will be around for many years, helping to redefine what it means to be an American.
